This piece is the first created and shared after a five year hiatus from sharing art publicly. In that time, I found myself struggling with self-doubt surrounding the new direction my art might take, and so, this piece was born of the difficult but necessary task of looking inward to embrace my purpose, inner peace, and resilience. It's a love letter to the woman I've become and a resurgence into empowered, intentional creativity.

Britney Symone’s work serves the purpose of revealing and honoring the immense strength found in softness by blending art and design to create vivid reflections of her experiences. Whether through self-portraiture or sage typographic design, she finds power in creating work focused on the journey of self-discovery. Her process involved painting, printing, framing, and embellishing her art with beadwork to imbue them with a one-of-a-kind physicality and intention. The intricacy of the materials lend themselves to the delicate, eclectic, and often messy nature of looking deeply at oneself and meeting them with loving kindness. Her inspirations include the vibrancy of Black diasporic cultures, the serenity of nature, the vastness of spirituality, and the gift of emotional tenderness.
