The inspiration behind this piece, like most of my work is introspection. It affirms the mantra: “the more I exercise my inner voice the bigger my world becomes.” I recognize that my past hesitancy to speak often came from a place of compassion and wanting to preserve peace for others. I now stand in giving voice to my truth because it deserves that space and honoring my truth doesn’t create conflict. It can actually heal spaces and expand them.

Rakia Jackson is a visual artist and educator, whose practice spans painting, digital design, mixed media, and public art. Her work is rooted in themes of self-awareness, collective human experiences, and community healing. Through an intuitive creative process, Rakia constructs layered compositions that invite viewers to pause and explore, then reflect and engage in conversations of shared emotions and ideas. By blending personal narratives with universal themes, she seeks to foster deeper connections and moments of introspection within her audience.
