This piece is the first collage piece that started me on my journey there's not much for me to say about this piece but it did show me that I can make the work that I want to and love to make. However and, with that being said it does keep me up at night thinking what is I never made this specific piece? what would my career look like? What would the relationships I made or have without ever making this piece? what would my world look like if I never decided to at at least try?

Zaire Miles-Moultrie is a Black artist based in Greensboro, North Carolina, whose creative journey is a testament to the profound impact of identity and culture on artistic expression. With a diverse array of mediums at his disposal, including drawing, collaging, and printmaking, he intricately weaves together elements of history, spirituality, and personal experience to explore the complex and surreal nature of blackness and life. Zaire’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and galleries throughout the region and country, captivating audiences with its emotive power and thought-provoking themes. He recently graduated from the university of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BFA in print making and drawing. Currently he is in residence at Artspace Raleigh as part of the 2025 emerging artist residency.
