I was in the studio working on this piece and normally the work will eventually reveal itself. This piece however was giving me trouble, so I took it over to the sink and hosed it down to get rid of some of the paint and save the canvas for something else. As the paint ran, one layer over another, it indeed began to reveal its true self and Concert in the Park was born.

Concert in the Park was included in the 68th Juried Truist Exhibition.

I'm Dawn R. Taylor, and I am the proud owner, operator, and resident artist of Artistically Speaking Fine Arts Gallery. Specializing in abstract expressionism, my journey into the world of visual art began through my passion for writing. 

As a fiction writer, I often found myself experiencing moments of writer's block, where my characters would fall silent. Turning to painting as a form of creative release, I discovered that the act of creating with colors and shapes would unlock the voices of my characters, leading to new insights and solutions to my writing dilemmas. Utilizing a variety of techniques and materials such as molding paste, pouring, charcoal, fabrics, acrylic paint, and written words, I express myself visually with a sense of freedom and spontaneity.
