Painting is where I find joy in the "art of playing". A canvas, no matter how terrible it might turn out, is a creative playground. It is a safe space to make mistakes and to practice acceptance. I painted this one, and painted over it. Then I poured excess paint off another canvas onto it. It has been painted, repainted, poured all over, and washed in the sink too many times to count. It has always been there to catch it all. The Viking woman in the upper left corner, looks to me as if she made it through the mess and is leaving it all behind her. She is the reason, I have not painted over it again. I never wanted to erase her progress.

I am a cancer Survivor that needed to do something for my mental health. I began pouring acrylics and found joy in the "art of playing" and learned lesson after lesson in acceptance. I have been painting for a year now. This canvas, has been with me almost this whole time.
