Upsnerch (pronounced "up-snAIRch") was a word I used as a child for saying "upstairs." It is a reflection of how my brain made due with the facilities it had, and how in my art, I make due with what is available.

All my works are created from discarded or useless materials as a response to the overconsumption of newly-made goods and the scale at which we discard things. As an artist and an entrepreneur (localmaterials.net), I am showing how material reuse is possible and scalable, and how discarding material is otherwise misguided. 

The creative limitation of only using what is found allows serendipity to play a large role in my process. It feels a lot like finding the right puzzle piece, except I don't find them in a box, I find them in the world, sometimes months after I start looking. Instead of bringing ideas onto materials, the materials present the ideas.

The smashbox cars are just one category of the types of work I create, and I hope you enjoy them. Custom commissions are always welcome.
